Tips on Ticks
- Wear long sleeves and pants, especially when gardening or hiking. A hat is a good idea too, as ticks can fall out of trees.
- After a long period outside, take a shower within two hours! Check your skin and hair during this time. Ticks can range in size too, and could look like a small freckle on your skin. Pay close attention to your hair, groin, and armpit areas.
- If you find a tick, remove with pointy tweezers, as close to the skin as possible, and pull it straight out. Do not squeeze the body of the tick and risk pushing anything from the tick stomach into your body while removing.
Don’t let this keep you inside, but use these precautions to enjoy the warm weather!
